Silver Jews and Milo Arts

Silver Jews --

Okay, Pitchfork recently featured an interview with Silver Jew in Chief David Berman, but that's only the current installment. Berman has collaborated with many of indie rock's illuminati; I think he would call them friends including Stephen Malkmus lately of The Jicks, remember Pavement? I am also cheered by the geography puzzle that is where is the home of the Silver Jews.

Berman is a poet, both with verses published in books, and lyrics. As an early guitar student I learned Tide to the Oceans from the first full-length. So, whether you are a longtime fan or a recent arrival there is plenty to savor.

Especially this trip out … Peyton Pinkerton, who can be found playing with the Pernice Brothers and New Radiant Storm King is along for the "ride." His is refined, stylish guitar delights casual listeners and guitar gear heads alike.

Secret Columbus

Columbus Discount Records celebrates five years with two nights of concerts. The nugget of Friday's concert is Sandwitch. The band is one more example of what happens in Columbus every year. A bunch of musicians get together, courtesy of the Rock'n'Roll Potluck and decide they enjoy playing together. Have a listen for yourself tonight.
